BELLEVUE, WA -- June 18, 2003 UltraBac Software today released UltraBac v7.1, the award winning backup and disaster recovery solution for users of Windows® servers and workstations. The latest version of UltraBac provides critical Windows 2003 Server support, UNIX backup and restore capability, and automatic distribution and installation of program updates. Version 7.1 is available for evaluation and purchase now.
Version 7.1 fully supports Microsoft's new Windows Server 2003 Family of products, continuing UltraBac Software's commitment to the latest Microsoft operating systems.
An updated UNIX Agent is also available with version 7.1. The agent now offers remote backup capabilities for Linux, HP-UX, AIX, Sun Solaris, Sun Intel, Mac OSX and FreeBSD. Along with new HP-UX and AIX compatibility, file system enumeration on all OS platforms is now streamlined, enabling backups to run and complete faster than ever.
Version 7.1 now provides enterprise class customers Auto Update, a deployment function that is especially useful for large sites. Using this feature, minimal user interaction is required to automatically update hundreds of servers and workstations with the latest version of the software. In addition to Auto Update, Version 7.1 also includes a command line set-up feature that allows an administrator to easily install new licensed copies of UltraBac within a network - no additional software required.
Other new features include enhanced scheduling views, plug & play tape support for an expanded list of devices such as FireWire and USB tape drives, and improved restore index processing to further speed recovery time.
